The Chairman's Corner

Not a good start to this year, with a feeling that KentARA’s image has been tarnished by persons not able to explain their motives, in misleading and under handed ways of disrupting our AGM and EGM.
I would like to thank both Tony Mulcuck and Roy Sidebottom for their hard work in stabilizing and sorting out the shambles that KentARA was left in, and to all those Members that supported and voted me back in the Chair, also to welcome Roy Sidebottom back as our new secretary, Ron Simpson as Treasurer, Peter Nicholls as Vice Chairman and our new membership Secretary Diane Wheatley.
The KentARA Tea Dance on the 25th of May went head as planned and again proved to be a happy and successful event, with members arriving from all over Kent and joining in the Line. Sequence and Ballroom dancing. The next one is on the 9th November.
KentARA Line-Dancing at Larkfield is still going strong, with more members joining our first easy class. Why not give it a try?.
We have many more happy events to look forward to this year including: The John Hardiman Memorial Cup—Short Mat Bowls competition, The Craft and Hobby Fair, Another Race Night, The Thanksgiving Service at Rochester, The Tea Dance, A Tinsel & Turkey Break and of course our wonderful Christmas Concert.
Next year we are having our usual Spring Break at Warners, Norton Grange on the Isle of Wight, this really is a gem nestling in National Trust land over-looking the Solent, the brick build chalets have been refurbished and a new water front terrace built, where you can relax with a drink, when you are not taking part in the many activities that will be taking place, there is a great choice of good food with waiter or self service. The price includes coach - insurance - no single supplement -two excursions and the services of a Group UK representative.
And later in the year we have our Jamboree this time at the TLH Leisure Resort, Torquay. Both of these breaks are advertised in this edition of the Kent Active.

KentARA is now back on track, after the recent upset, and I am looking forward to seeing the opening on more new clubs later in the year.  Gerald Benham.
