The Fantastic Race Night
Nearly 200 members arrived at the race course in Ditton Community Centre on Friday 5th October to take part in the KentARA Race Night arranged by Peter Nicholls. The attendance at these nights seem to get larger and larger each time as the word gets around about the great success they are, there was a very happy atmosphere to start with, but, as the night progressed you could discern a certain sadness in some of the faces as their well earned money slowly diminished at the bookmakers tables.
There were eight races in all, and they were from various race courses from around the country, flat and jumping, all with a good commentary to go with them, two of the races were ones where the horses were auctioned to the highest bidder and then the owner of the winning horse took all the money that had been raised.
If you have never been to one of these races you don’t know what you are missing, good entertainment, company and some very good food to make the evening one well worth a small fee of £6.00.
