A Wonderful Thanksgiving Service
Well done to MaidARA-Maidstone for arranging such a magnificent Thanksgiving Service at Rochester on Thursday 11th October. What about the all singing, joking and laughing Revd, Geoff Davis Vicar of Boughton Monchelsea. He had us all laughing along with him, he set the tone for the rest of the service. The hymns chosen for the service were splendidly sung by the large congregation, and the choir and sermons touched just the right note with the audience. This was the first one I had been able to attend and I can appreciate what I have been missing, such passion and feeling went into the singing it could have been a ’Last Night of the Proms’. Isn’t it wonderful, in this day and age, when so many of those things that we take for granted in being English are belittled, to see such a gathering of different people from all walks of life, sharing the experience of thanksgiving for the joys and delights we get from our retirement. Us members of KentARA have a lot be thankful for.
I believe that part of the thanks we made at the service should be directed to those members of our clubs who put so much effort and time into ensuring that we do have these joys and delights as part of our retirement, no other county has such an organisation to match this.
